Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda attended the Ministerial Meeting on Economic Measures held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence, at which the Urgent Measures for Enhancing Growth Potential were adopted.

The Government takes prompt measures where necessary in concretizing an economic growth strategy to ensure sustainable economic growth amidst a declining population and to realize a country of "hope and reassurance." In light of this, the measures were compiled with the pillars of: "strengthening small- and medium-sized enterprises," "reinforcing all industrial sectors," "improving the work environment (employment, human resources, work-and-life balance, and others)," "revitalizing regions," and "ensuring safety and reassurance, and transition to a low carbon society."

Prime Minister Fukuda said to the Ministers concerned, "The important thing is to steadily put these measures into action. I would ask each of you to check the implementation status of these urgent measures so as to ensure their real effectiveness."
