On the third day of his visit to the People's Republic of China, Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda attended a breakfast meeting at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse that was hosted by Chinese groups for promoting Japan-China friendship, and played catch with Mr. Wen Jiabao, the Premier of China.

In the morning, the Prime Minister, together with Mrs. Kiyoko Fukuda, visited Huajiadi Experimental Elementary School and enjoyed their time with a group of students who will be cheering for the Japanese national teams at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. In the afternoon, Prime Minister Fukuda moved by land to an economic and technological development zone in Tianjin City, where he observed an automobile manufacturing factory of a company jointly established with a Japanese corporation.

Afterwards, Prime Minister Fukuda moved to Shandong Province, and the following day of December 30, the Prime Minister visited Kongzimiao temple in Qufu City, the birthplace of Confucius. At the temple, Prime Minister Fukuda observed a rite, and using a writing brush wrote Chinese characters that mean "To create something new while cherishing something old."

Looking back on his visit to China, the Prime Minister said, "It was a very fruitful visit. Both the Chinese leaders and I strongly agreed that Japan-China cooperation would create energy more powerful than the one obtained through the combination of strengths of mere two nations. I will pursue our relations with China based on this understanding. At the same time, I will give a full thought on how we can advance mutual exchanges of our peoples in concrete terms."

Having completed his full itinerary, Prime Minister Fukuda arrived at Japan in the evening of December 30.
