Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama held talks with Mr. Bouasone Bouphavanh, Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), at the Prime Minister's Office.

The two leaders discussed, among other matters, Japan-Laos bilateral relations, Lao PDR's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), and economic cooperation. Prime Minister Bouasone extended an invitation to Prime Minister Hatoyama to visit Lao PDR. Prime Minister Hatoyama expressed his appreciation for the invitation and stated that he would like to visit Lao PDR at an appropriate time.
