Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama held a ceremony to present the Prime Minister's Award to Mr. Hiroyuki Koga (Ozeki Kaio), a sumo wrestler, at the Prime Minister's Office, and presented him with a certificate of award and a shield.

The award was presented to acknowledge Ozeki Kaio's outstanding achievements as a sumo wrestler in making contributions to sports promotion in Japan. Through long years of sincere commitment, Ozeki Kaio achieved the records of the longest run of tournament appearances in makuuchi* (100) and of the top number of bouts won in makuuchi (823), overcoming a number of difficulties.
