Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama held the second meeting of the Council for the Formulation of a Growth Strategy at the Prime Minister's Office. Following the meeting, the Cabinet approved the New Growth Strategy (Framework), and the New Growth Strategy (Framework): A Path for a Brilliant Japan was announced.

After the announcement, a demonstration on the new growth strategy was held inside the Prime Minister's Office and in the Front Garden of the Prime Minister's Office, in which a solar battery module, wheeled robots (bicycle type and unicycle type), a robot suit for elderly assistance, a single-seat electric vehicle, and a fuel cell vehicle were demonstrated among other items.
