Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama held the 24the meeting of the Intellectual Property Strategy Headquarters at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussions took place on urgent issues of intellectual property. It was the first meeting of the Headquarters since the inauguration of the Hatoyama Cabinet.

In the opening address, Prime Minister Hatoyama said, "The economy is in a severe condition. Against this backdrop, both developed and developing countries are making their utmost efforts. I would like to make sure that Japan advances on a new path toward becoming a nation built on intellectual property. I strongly call on the members of the Headquarters who have come together here today to combine your wisdom."
