Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama held a summit meeting with the head of the Japanese Trade Union Confederation (RENGO) at the Prime Minister's Office. Those who attended the meeting on the government side in addition to Prime Minister Hatoyama were Mr. Naoto Kan, Deputy Prime Minister, and Mr. Hirofumi Hirano, Chief Cabinet Secretary. On the RENGO side, Mr. Nobuaki Koga, President of RENGO, among others, attended the meting.

At the beginning, Prime Minister Hatoyama delivered an address, saying that, "The people are most concerned about the employment issue. I call on the government and RENGO to cooperate in actively advancing various initiatives, including employment measures."
