Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama visited the Ichigaya Center of the National Printing Bureau in Shinjuku City to observe the Government Revitalization Unit scrutinizing public projects.

The Government Revitalization Unit is conducting its second round of scrutinizing public projects from November 24 to 27, following the first round from November 11 to 17.

While listening to an explanation of results of scrutinizing public projects, Prime Minister Hatoyama observed discussions by the three working groups.

Prime Minister Hatoyama stated his impressions after the observation, saying, "I saw very serious discussions. Government officials insist that projects are absolutely necessary, whereas others on the people's side question the necessity and explore the possibility for further reductions. I felt the seriousness of each side. Although it was a short visit, I felt strongly the enthusiasm from the work that has been carried out in the interest of the people."
