Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama held the third meeting of the Government Revitalization Unit at the Prime Minister's Office.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Hatoyama received a report on the evaluation result of the first round of scrutinizing public projects that the Unit's working group had conducted. Discussions also took place on the cross-sectional review of administrative projects and the fundamental review of incorporated administrative agencies.

Prime Minister Hatoyama said in the closing remarks that "I extend my heartfelt appreciation for your high regard for the extensive efforts that the working group made for their first round of scrutinizing public projects, and also for pointing out various matters that you noticed in the evaluation process. That public projects are scrutinized in a manner that is transparent to the people and that the people are involving themselves in budget are, I believe, revolutionary. I also realized that it was necessary to take into account various opinions that the people developed through sources such as TV news. I call on your continued support in developing the new government's will to realize the new attempt to formulate a budget together with the people. I highly value the mindset toward conducting a cross-sectional review. More than anything else, I appreciate that we were able to confirm the direction in which we move forward today."
