On October 25 (local time), Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama attended the East Asia Summit (EAS) in Cha-am Hua Hin, Thailand. The meeting was attended by the leaders of the 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), China, the Republic of Korea (ROK), India, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

Prime Minister Hatoyama also held talks with H.E. Dr. H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President of the Republic of Indonesia. During the talks, Prime Minister Hatoyama expressed his intention to consider providing 400 million dollars of ODA loans for Indonesia's efforts to tackle global warming. The consideration will be made in connection to the Hatoyama Initiative that the Prime Minister announced at the General Assembly of the United Nations in September 2009.
