I offer my heartfelt congratulations to the Japanese team on its second successive victory at the World Baseball Classic (WBC) championships. This splendid victory, achieved through a string of wins over the strongest teams in the world, namely those of Cuba, the United States of America and the Republic of Korea, has greatly moved and has given much hope to many of our people. Japan's latent strengths have been reaffirmed through these championships. I have great pride in the members of Japanese team, led by their manager, [Tatsunori] Hara. I hope they will continue to perform in a manner worthy of world champions. Well done, and thank you very much indeed.
