Ceremony to Present the National Honor Award

Prime Minister Taro Aso held a ceremony to present the National Honor Award to Ms. Mitsuko Mori (birth name: Mitsu Murakami), an actress, at the Prime Minister's Office.

The award was presented to commend Ms. Mori's various activities over many years, who acted as the main character of a play called "Horouki" on more than 2,000 stages, filling the people's hearts with dreams, hope, and joy.　

After receiving the certificate of commendation and shield from Prime Minister Aso, Ms. Mori presented the Prime Minister with a DVD set of "Horouki."

The National Honor Award was established in August 1977 to honor those persons, respected by a broad spectrum of the people, whose distinguished accomplishments have brought the light of hope to society. Ms. Mori has become the 17th award winner.
