The Prime Minister Attends Cabinet Meeting in Cool Biz Fashion

All the Cabinet members including Prime Minister Taro Aso attended the Cabinet meeting at the Diet building wearing laid-back Okinawan kariyushi shirts.

This was in response to the request to the Cabinet members made by Mr. Takeo Kawamura, Chief Cabinet Secretary, at the gathering of ministers on May 26 to wear kariyushi shirts when they attend the Cabinet meeting on June 2.

The Government of Japan asks the people's cooperation in conducting a Cool Biz campaign from June 1 to September 30 of this year, as was conducted in previous years, in which the people are encouraged to set the room temperature at 28 degrees Celsius as well as take other steps to reduce the burden on the environment.
