Prime Minister Taro Aso held the 3rd meeting of the Council for the Realization of a Reassuring Society at the Prime Minister's Office.

After Mr. Hiroya Masuda, Secretary-General of the Council, gave an explanation on a memorandum on points at issue, which summarized the content of discussions at the Council's meetings thus far, the Council members deliberated on the direction in which the Council's opinions will be integrated.

In the opening address, Prime Minister Aso said, "A major discussion has taken place at the Budget Committee of the Diet concerning the way the Japanese society should be in the future. It is good that a broad range of people started to recognize this issue. Going forward, I want the Council to analyze causes and backgrounds, and further discuss the image of the Japanese society that we seek to realize."
