The Prime Minister Receives a Courtesy Call from Japan Prize Laureates

Prime Minister Taro Aso received a courtesy call from the Japan Prize laureates for 2009, the 25th year of the awards, at the Prime Minister's Office and talked with them.

The Japan Prize is awarded to people from all over the world who have made original and outstanding achievements in science and technology and therefore contributed to their progress, and also serve the cause of peace and prosperity for humankind.

The two Japan Prize laureates for 2009 paid a courtesy call with their wives. Dr. Dennis L. Meadows was awarded in the prize category of transformation towards a sustainable society in harmony with nature for his achievement in contribution towards a sustainable world as founded in the report titled "The Limits to Growth." Dr. David E. Kuhl was awarded in the category of technological integration of medical science and engineering for his achievement in contributions to tomographic imaging in nuclear medicine.

Prime Minister Aso talked with them in English and congratulated Dr. Meadows and Dr. Kuhl for their winning of the prize.
