Prime Minister Taro Aso, together with Mr. Takeo Kawamura, Chief Cabinet Secretary, among other officials, received a courtesy call from Ms. Megumi Yoshida, the Japan Cherry Blossom Queen, among others, at the Prime Minister's Office. Ms. Yoshida attached a green feather pin, the symbol of the Green Feather Campaign, to the Prime Minister's lapel and presented him with a rhododendron.

The Green Feather Campaign, the first event in Greenery Month that runs from April 15 to May 14 every year, is conducted to ask the Prime Minister and others to each wear a green feather pin.

It is expected that as participation grows in this campaign, the people will develop a stronger awareness of greening initiatives. Increasing public participation is also expected to further promote the Green Fundraising Campaign, in which funds are raised for various activities, such as forest volunteers' activities to develop water source forests, activities to preserve mountains that support people's livelihoods, and overseas planting activities.
