On April 5, North Korea launched a flying object. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Taro Aso, the government held meetings of the Information Gathering Council and the Security Council, successively, and confirmed, among other actions, the safety of the Japan's territory. The government sent a strong protest to North Korea and requested the United Nations Security Council to convene an emergency meeting.
