Prime Minister Taro Aso held a ceremony to present the National Honor Award at the Prime Minister's Office. The award honored the late Mr. Minoru Endo, a composer who passed away on December 6, 2008. Prime Minster Aso handed the certificate of commendation and shield to his eldest daughter, Ms. Yumiko Ando.

The award was presented to commend Mr. Endo's composition of many hit songs long loved by all generations, filling the people's hearts with dreams, hope, and joy.

The National Honor Award was established in August 1977 to honor those persons, respected by a broad spectrum of the people, whose distinguished accomplishments have brought the light of hope to society.
