Prime Minister Taro Aso held the presentation ceremony of the Prime Minister's Award to the winner of the 41st Japan Professional Sports Grand Prize at the Prime Minister's Office.

The Japan Professional Sports Grand Prize is awarded each year to the individual or group that is deemed to have made the largest contribution to overall professional sports throughout the country. The Grand Prize for the year 2008 was awarded to Mr. Ryo Ishikawa, a professional golf player who turned pro this year and made a stellar performance. The Prime Minister conferred the Award upon him.

The Prime Minister then received a putter from Mr. Ishikawa with his name inscribed on it as a memento. "This is of the same model that I am using," said Mr. Ishikawa.
