Prime Minister Taro Aso held a meeting of the Advisory Council on "Rural Areas Revitalizing" at the Prime Minister's Office.

Six people working to revitalize rural areas were invited to the meeting, and in the discussion each of them described how their respective efforts are having ripple effects on neighboring regions and how they intend to expand activities.

At the end of the meeting, Prime Minister Aso said, "Ultimately, what is needed is the momentum of each region; rather than advancing revitalization based on a third party's initiative, what is most important is for each rural area to take the lead in its revitalization."
