Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the Presentation Ceremony of Certification of Plans for Special Zones for Structural Reform, Plans for Regional Revitalization and the Basic Plan for Revitalization of Central Urban Districts held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.

In his address, Prime Minister Abe said, "A nation cannot be vitalized unless its regions are vitalized. This is the basic policy of my Cabinet. In our effort to bring forth regional vitality, it is indispensable to combine the passion and commitment of local community members. Among these efforts, we were presented plans of remarkable endeavors by each one of you attending today. I believe regional revitalization in a true sense will take hold when these plans and various success cases are spread nationwide."

Afterwards, Prime Minister Abe handed over the certifications to the participants, including: Mr. Kiyoshi Sai, the Mayor of Ogawara Town, Miyagi Prefecture, for the town's promotion of a special zone for the manufacturing of unrefined sake, doburoku, to vitalize tourism, nominated in the Plans for Special Zones for Structural Reform; Mr. Iizumi Kamon, the Governor of Tokushima Prefecture, for its plan to build hubs to nurture LED-related engineers in southern Tokushima Prefecture, nominated in the Plans for Regional Revitalization; and Mr. Toshifumi Sunagawa, the Mayor of Obihiro City, Hokkaido, for the city's plan to revitalize its central urban area, nominated in the Plans for Regional Revitalization and the Basic Plan for Revitalization of Central Urban Districts.
