At the extraordinary Cabinet meeting on the morning of August 29, the senior vice-ministers of the reshuffled Abe Cabinet were decided.

Afterwards, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the attestation ceremony at the Imperial Palace with the newly appointed senior vice-ministers who had assembled at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. Prime Minister Abe and the senior vice-ministers thereafter returned to the Prime Minister's Official Residence and attended a commemorative photograph session, which was also joined by Mr. Kaoru Yosano, the Chief Cabinet Secretary, and others. Prime Minister Abe then attended the first meeting of the senior vice-ministers.

Prime Minister Abe delivered an address, saying, "The task of the new Cabinet is to win back the people's trust in politics and in the administration. Moreover, we need to put the foremost priority on dialogue with the people and shed light thoroughly on those areas that have not yet seen the light of reform, while making a bold review of the various systems that have continued long since the end of the war." To the attending senior vice-ministers, Prime Minister Abe said, "I ask each of you to exert all your skills to serving your post and join hands in our endeavor to fulfill the mandate of the Japanese people."
