Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a meeting of the Liaison Council between the Government and Ruling Parties on the Reconstruction of Pension Operations at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.

In his opening address, Prime Minister Abe spoke about restoring trust in the pension system and the establishment of a new system for pension record management. He said, "The people are feeling great anger about the problems surrounding the nation's pension records. As the head of the current administration, I feel deep regret for the situation. My Cabinet is taking responsibility for resolving these problems as soon as possible, and we will continue our checks until the very last record has been verified so that everyone will receive the full pension that is due them."
