Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the Commemorative Ceremony for the 60th Anniversary of the Enactment of the Constitution of Japan, held at the Parliamentary Museum.

There Prime Minister Abe took part in a tree-planting ritual in commemoration of the anniversary, along with the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the House of Councillors of the Diet, as well as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and others. Afterwards at the commemorative ceremony, Prime Minister delivered a congratulatory address, in which he said, "We are expected to pursue 'reform' in order to allow for the adaptation to the changes of time in the basic frameworks, starting from the Constitution, down to the administrative system, education, economy, employment and state-local relationship. Furthermore, I consider it important that we share the task of 'supporting' and 'protecting' the 'country' and 'society' that we belong to with a sense of affection, responsibility and determination. In light of this, I earnestly hope that towards the creation of a new country, we, together with the people of Japan, will be able to discuss positively the modalities of our Constitution, which lays out the vision and shape of our country."
