On September 25, 2020, the Prime Minister spoke to the press at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence.

Regarding the telephone talk with President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China, the Prime Minister said,

"I just held a telephone talk with President Xi Jinping of China. President Xi expressed his congratulations on my appointment as the Prime Minister and his intention to continue advancing bilateral relations with Japan.

  I stated that, since the stable relations between Japan and China are extremely important not only for the two countries but also for the region and the international community, I would like to fulfil that responsibility together. President Xi and I agreed that we will closely communicate with each other on bilateral, regional or global issues at a high level, including at the summit level, going forward.

 For your information, there was no exchange on the visit of President Xi to Japan."
