On August 7, 2020, the Prime Minister attended the second hearing of the Council on Investments for the Future at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The Prime Minister said in his address following the hearing,

“In the ‘with-corona’ age, we will implement effective preventive measures and restore socio-economic activities in a phased approach It is necessary to certainly balance these two.

Today we discussed recovery of the movement of people from and to other countries and smooth facilitation of the movement of people inside Japan. . We are joined by epidemiologists and representatives of companies that are being affected by restrictions on the movement of people. We exchanged views on how to advance measures.

The participants also shared views such matters as the possibility of controlling the spread of infections through natural immunity and social distancing, the further use of antigen tests as well as the development of a screening structure in order to resume the movement of people, the facilitation of immigration with other countries and reviews of travel restriction levels, and the necessity of a business track for travel. We would like to address each and every point one by one at the Council on Investments for the Future. Thank you very much for participating in this exchange of views today despite your busy schedules.”
