On December 21, 2019, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited the 60th Press Photo Exhibition 2019 being held in Tokyo.

After viewing the photographs, the Prime Minister said,

“I just now saw the photo exhibition. It feels like quite a long time ago that we welcomed President Trump as the first state guest of the Reiwa era; we also hosted Japan’s first G20 Summit (Summit on Financial Markets and the World Economy) in Osaka. This was a year in which leaders from across the world visited to and came together in Japan. Furthermore, so many people visited Japan to attend the Sokuirei-Seiden-no-gi (Ceremony of the Enthronement of His Majesty the Emperor at the Seiden (State Hall).

Moreover, the Rugby World Cup: many sports fans and rugby fans, came to Japan for that; this was, I believe, a year in which Japan shone at the center of the world.

Next year, the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held at last. I intend to advance new nation-building, with eyes on the future, in the atmosphere full of dynamism. Thank you.”
