On December 5, 2019, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended a Policy Roundtable of the Government and Ruling Parties at the Prime Minister's Office.

At the meeting, there was a discussion on the economic policy package.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said,

“With respect to the Comprehensive Economic Measures to Create a Future with Security and Growth, through the ruling parties’ intensive consideration, we have been able to compile a powerful policy package worthy of being the very first economic policy of the new era of Reiwa. These economic measures are founded on the following three pillars: recovery and reconstruction from disasters and securing safety and peace of mind, intensive support to people seeking to overcome the downward risks of the economy, and investing in the future and maintaining and improving economic vitality looking to the future beyond next year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games. Adopting the concept of a 15-month budget, we have compiled a fiscal policy of over 13 trillion yen that appropriately mixes this fiscal year’s supplementary budget with the temporary special measures included in the budget for the next fiscal year.

I would like to request the full cooperation of the leadership of the ruling parties and relevant ministers in implementing this new economic policy package.”
