On October 17, 2019, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Fukushima and Miyagi Prefectures to inspect the state of the damage caused by Typhoon No. 19* of 2019.
 
The Prime Minister first visited a disaster-affected area in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture, and subsequently visited Takase Elementary School, which is serving as an evacuation center. Next, the Prime Minister visited a site affected by the flooding in Motomiya City, Fukushima Prefecture, and visited Epoca, which is serving as an evacuation center. Thereafter, the Prime Minister visited the Fukushima Prefectural Office, where he received a written request from and exchanged views with Governor Masao Uchibori of Fukushima Prefecture.
 
The Prime Minister then inspected a disaster-affected area in Marumori Town, Miyagi Prefecture, and visited the Marumori Community Development Center, which is serving as an evacuation center.
