[Provisional Translation]

On July 9, 2018, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended a Policy Roundtable of the Government and Ruling Parties at the Prime Minister's Office.

At the meeting, there was discussion on the guidelines for FY2019 budget requests.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said,

“The FY2019 budget will cover the first fiscal year of the new Plan for Economic and Fiscal Revitalization included in the 2018 Basic Policy, which we compiled recently.

The biggest issue for the Japanese economy right now is alleviating personnel shortages, increasing productivity, and raising the potential growth rate. By boldly prioritizing budgets for truly needed measures, such as those for the revolutions in human resources development and productivity, we will further accelerate initiatives toward the realization of robust economic growth and fiscal consolidation.

The guidelines for FY2019 budget requests are in line with this policy. I would like to request the special cooperation of the leadership of the ruling parties and relevant ministers on this matter.”
