On January 22, 2018, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a press occasion at the Prime Minister's Office.
In regard to the 196th ordinary session of the Diet, the Prime Minister said,
“We received strong support from the people in the general election that was held just three months ago. In this session of the Diet, I would like to carry out each of the promises we made one by one in order to respond to the mandate given to us by the people of Japan. I will attend the Diet with a sense of urgency.”
