On December 14, 2017, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Forum 2017 and other events held in Tokyo.
Prime Minister Abe first received courtesy calls from Dr. Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank Group, and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization. The Prime Minister then gave a speech at the high level opening session.
Afterwards, Prime Minister Abe received a courtesy call from the leaders of UN agencies and other organizations, including Mr. Anthony Lake, Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund; Dr. Marijke Wijnroks, Interim Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; Dr. Alvaro Bermejo, Director-General of International Planned Parenthood Federation-designate; and Dr. Seth Berkley, Chief Executive Officer of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
