[Provisional Translation]

I am deeply saddened to learn about the U.S. Government’s announcement on the death of U.S. national Kayla Mueller, who was captured by ISIL.
On behalf of the Government and the people of Japan, I express my deepest sympathy, and my sincere condolences are with Ms. Mueller’s family. I would like to express Japan’s unwavering solidarity with the Government of the United States and the American people during these difficult times.
Japan, in collaboration with the international community, will further expand our humanitarian assistance and steadfastly fulfill our responsibility in the international community’s fight against terrorism.
