Press Occasion by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the Ballistic Missile Launches by North Korea (8:50 p.m.)
Monday, March 6, 2017
I just have convened a National Security Council (NSC) meeting for the third time today, and reviewed the circumstances thus far. North Korea had been hinting it would launch a new type of missile, and further provocations are a conceivable possibility. I issued instructions to be thoroughly prepared by maintaining an elevated vigilance and surveillance structure in order to protect citizens’ lives and assets in all potential circumstances, while coordinating closely with the countries concerned, including the United States and the Republic of Korea.
