Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a press occasion at the Prime Minister's Official Residence about Typhoon No. 21 on October 22, 2017.

The Prime Minister said the following,

“A very large typhoon, Typhoon No. 21, is nearing Japan. In order to minimize the damage from this typhoon, I have issued three instructions to the Minister of State for Disaster Management. My instructions were to provide timely and detailed information to the public, to implement countermeasures ahead of time, including evacuation orders, and to exert every effort for the preparation of response forces such as the Self-Defense Forces (SDF).

The Abe Cabinet will work as one to exert our full efforts on emergency disaster response measures in order to protect the lives of the people of Japan.”
