Prime Minister Shinzo Abe traveled to Washington D.C. in the United States of America to attend the 4th Nuclear Security Summit and other events.

The Prime Minister hosted a dinner that also served as a meeting with experts. The dinner was attended by Dr. Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank, Mr. Robert Rubin, former United States Secretary of the Treasury, Mr. Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board (FRB), Dr. Martin Feldstein, Professor of Economics at Harvard University, and Dr. Adam Posen, President of the Peterson Institute for International Economics.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address,

“I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to all of the leaders of the economic policies of the U.S. as well as the world here with us today.

In May this year, I will serve as the Chair of the G7 Summit to be held at Ise-Shima. I intend to transmit a clear message towards the sustainable, powerful growth of the global economy, including how the world can cooperate to achieve such growth.

I hope to receive your frank views and analysis of the United States economy and the global economy. I hope to utilize this valuable information for the upcoming G7 Summit. Thank you once again for joining us today.”
