Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the 2nd meeting of the Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy in 2015 at the Prime Minister's Office.

At the meeting, discussion was held on “the medium-to-long term economic and fiscal outlook and fiscal soundness” and “measures to reinforce the positive economic cycle.”

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said,

“We have received proposals from private sector members of the Council and the opinions of the Minister of Finance and other officials with regard to the basic policy and approach for the plan to be prepared by this summer that aims to realize fiscal soundness and economic revitalization. We will firmly maintain our goal to achieve fiscal soundness by FY2020. Based on today’s discussions, I would like to ask the private sector members of the Council to lead efforts to outline the issues, while referring to the proposals of academics and the private sector, and I would like Minister Amari to work together with the relevant ministers to hold further discussions aimed at devising the plan.

Additionally, we discussed the state of incomes, including from the perspective of regional revitalization. Through Abenomics, I hope to continue to enlarge the positive economic cycle and robustly improve the overall economy.”
