Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended a meeting of the Ministerial Council on Monthly Economic Report and Other Relative Issues at the Prime Minister's Office.

The Monthly Economic Report for October assesses the current state of the Japanese economy, stating that "Although some weakness can be seen, the Japanese economy continues to be on the way to recovery at a moderate pace. Recently the tempo of increase in consumer prices has slowed down."

On prospects for the economy, it states, “Although some weakness remains for the short-term, the economy is expected to moderately recover, supported by the continuing improvement of employment and income conditions, and the effects of various policies. However, attention should be given to the risks for decline facing the Japanese economy, such as a prolonged reaction after the last-minute rise in demand, as well as the slowing of overseas economies.”
