Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the first meeting of the Headquarters for Creating a Society in which All Women Shine, at the Prime Minister's Office.

At the meeting, discussion took place on how to manage the headquarters, a policy package for creating a society in which all women shine, and other issues.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said in his address,

“Creating a society in which all women shine has been one of the Abe Cabinet’s top priorities since the launch of the Abe Administration two years ago.

Today, we compiled a “policy package for creating a society in which all women shine.”

It is extremely important to increase the number of women who actively carry out leadership roles. Simultaneously, I want you to engage in enhancing and promoting measures to encourage active participation by all women, including measures for eliminating uncertainty about childcare, stabilizing the lifestyles of single-mother households, and improving the treatment of working women, including those in irregular employment.

Additionally, I would like to ask you to do your utmost to ensure that new legislation on the facilitation of women's active roles is enacted in the current session of the Diet.

Furthermore, I would like you to move ahead with considering measures for improving and enhancing day-to-day quality of life, under the leadership of Minister Arimura and with a sense of urgency.

In moving measures forward, I want you to pay attention and listen carefully to the views of women, who are the stakeholders, as well as to the relevant individuals in the industrial community and others.”
