Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the 15th meeting of the Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy at the Prime Minister's Office.
At the meeting, current macro-economic conditions and measures for further expanding a positive economic cycle were discussed.
The Prime Minister made the following remarks in his opening address.
“This is the first meeting of the Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy that includes new members after the Cabinet reshuffle. I would like to start by informing you all of my approach.
I have been steadily advancing economic policies based on the “three arrows,” in conjunction with the entire Cabinet. I would like the Cabinet to continue all possible measures that prioritize the economy, exerting our best efforts to strengthen Japan’s emergence from deflation and into economic recovery, so that the effects of such an economic recovery are fully experienced throughout the country.
Moreover, through achieving the further expansion of a positive economic cycle, I would like us to realize economic growth led by private-sector demand. The Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy will continue to review economic conditions.
We are starting the second chapter of Abenomics. Realizing the vitalization of the regions as well as “a society in which all women shine” are top-priority issues for this Cabinet, and we will strengthen our measures to achieve these aims.
Fiscal soundness, which must be achieved along with economic revitalization, is also an important issue. To that end, we will implement expenditure reform, including expenditure on social security, and designate no program as sacred.

We are a ‘Cabinet of action and achievement,’ advancing towards the realization of policies firmly based on looking towards the future of Japan. From that viewpoint, through lively discussions between every member, I would like to fully exercise the capabilities of this Council, and look forward to your continued cooperation.”
