Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received a courtesy call from the Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Team at the Prime Minister's Office.
The Prime Minister said in his address,
“I would like to warmly welcome members of the Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Team who were dispatched as representatives from Japan to assist in searching for the missing Malaysia Airlines airplane.
All of you demonstrated that Japan is a responsible regional partner through your search and rescue activities carried out at the request of our important partners Malaysia and Australia.
Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Malaysia Najib Razak and Prime Minister Abbot of Australia have expressed their deep appreciation for your efforts. I have received a report that related ministries and agencies worked closely together and facilitated the provision of assistance on this occasion.
I am very pleased that the Government worked as one to practice our policy of proactive contribution to peace.
I would like all members of the team to fully utilize their experiences on this occasion to devote even greater efforts to future activities.
Thank you again for your very hard work.”
