On July 31 (local time), during his visit to the Republic of Chile, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the Japan-Chile Trade and Investment Forum. Following that, the Prime Minister visited a Japanese garden on Santa Lucia Hill, and then attended a wreath laying ceremony in Citizenship Square.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Gunma Prefecture. The Prime Minister first visited Tomioka Silk Mill in Tomioka City, where he reeled silk, toured the reeling mill and the dormitory, and conversed with local volunteers. The Prime Minister then visited farmland belonging to the Japan Organic Agriculture Association in Kanra Town, where he tasted organic tomatoes and harvested crops.

Following this, the Prime Minister attended the signing ceremony of the document for the establishment of the Japan-Australia Academic Exchange Fund. In the evening Prime Minister Abe attended a welcome banquet jointly hosted by Prime Minister Abbott and Premier Barnett.
