Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended TICAD V "Exchange of Views between African Leaders and Japanese Business Executives," hosted by the Keidanren in Yokohama.

The Prime Minister said in his address,

"Today, it is an honor to be able to address this gathering of African leaders and Japanese business leaders on this valuable occasion. I would like to express my appreciation to the Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) for giving me this opportunity.
Now, Japanese companies are eyeing Africa where diverse business opportunities are emerging. Africa has a wealth of resources. It has a vast land. It has an enormous market with a rapidly growing middle-income group. And, above all, Africa is ripe with confidence and hope.
There are expectations from Africa about Japanese companies entering the African market. Japanese companies have the skills and knowhow to strengthen Africa's capacity and contribute to its industry development. The experience and wisdom of Japanese companies that drove Japan's economic growth will no doubt unlock Africa's potential. As I said at the opening session, the Japanese Government will fulfill the role of a catalyst.
I understand today there will be a networking session after this. I urge Japanese companies to take full advantage of this opportunity to let yourselves be heard by African leaders. And I would like to ask African leaders to convey the attractiveness of African business and listen to what Japanese companies may have to say.
In closing, I would like to wish you all a fruitful exchange of views today."
