On April 30 (local time), Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and attended a banquet hosted by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at King Faisal Palace.

Following this, there was a meeting with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Salman, and after that, the Prime Minister attended a signing ceremony.

After the meeting, the "Joint Statement on the Strengthening of the Comprehensive Partnership between Japan and Saudi Arabia" was issued.

The following day, on May 1 (local time), the Prime Minister delivered a speech on the theme of "Japan's Ties with the Middle East in a New Age of Synergy, Mutual Prosperity, and Cooperation" at King Abdulaziz University.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister attended a meeting with members of an economic mission.
