Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received a courtesy call from Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States of America, at the Prime Minister's Office.

The Prime Minister said in his address,

"Amidst the dramatic changes taking place in the Asia-Pacific security environment, I am very grateful for your visit to Japan. It is critically significant for the peace and safety of the region that our two countries strengthen our partnerships based on an unshakeable Japan-U.S. alliance."
