Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the second meeting of the Administrative Reform Promotion Council at the Prime Minister's Office.

At this meeting, there was a discussion of initiatives for the eradication of waste, followed by a free debate on the same topic.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said,

"Today, at this second meeting of the Administrative Reform Promotion Council, among the three areas for specific consideration by this Council, which are the (1) eradication of waste, (2) reform of the special account system, and (3) reform of independent administrative agencies, we discussed the eradication of waste.
As a result, we have compiled a concrete policy including various improvement measures and new initiatives for the review of administrative programs and procurement improvement plan that will act as the infrastructure for efforts to eradicate waste.
It is extremely important to be persistent on initiatives for the eradication of waste. Based on the compilation of policies today for the review of administrative programs and procurement improvement plan, I want the entire Government to make decisions and undertake thorough initiatives.
In addition, there was a wide range of opinions offered by everyone today related to the eradication of waste. The Abe Cabinet will continue to pursue administrative reform while considering today's discussion.
I ask for everyone's cooperation next time as well, when I hope to discuss the reform of the special account system and reform of independent administrative agencies.
