Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received a courtesy call at the Prime Minister's Office from representatives of the Boy Scouts who received the "Fuji Award."

The "Fuji Award" is an honorary badge presented to boys and girls of high-school age or under the age of 20, who accomplished various challenging tasks, by going through tests and interviews, within the scout movement.

The Prime Minister gave words of encouragement to the 45 scout representatives who received the "Fuji Award,"

"I believe that you all had wonderful opportunities in these scout activities to learn the importance and value of working hard together and cooperating with one another, as well as the preciousness of devoting oneself to the region and society, while spending your childhood and adolescence together with others of the same age. I understand that the 'Fuji Award' was presented to you, whose efforts had been especially notable. I think this kind of experience will be a treasure for you, and I would like for you to utilize the experience in your life from now on.
In four months, the 16th Nippon Jamboree will be held in Kirara-hama, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Then, two years later, the World Scout Jamboree will be held in Kirara-hama, which will be the first time it is held in Japan in 44 years. Many of your peers will come to Kirara-hama from throughout the world, who will have the same kind of experience, and they will learn what kind of country Japan is. On that occasion, I would like to ask you to go Kirara-hama and help your peers.
Scout activities are activities that go beyond national borders. Young people throughout the world of about the same age will go through the same experiences and help each other to gain various experiences. People from different parts of the world can understand each other. I expect that these experiences will offer a wonderful opportunity to learn that there are various kinds of cultures and countries in the world, as well as various ways of thinking.
I would like to ask all of you who received the 'Fuji Award' to work hard for the region, the world and people, and to have various experiences, with the pride of having been presented this award."
