Designation of the Prime Minister

The voting to designate the Prime Minister took place at both the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors. Mr. Shinzo Abe, a member of the House of Representatives, was designated as the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Abe became the 96th Prime Minister (the 63rd person to assume the post) since Hirobumi Ito, the first Prime Minister of Japan.
